I was excited to get the Bottle Cutter Kit and Tool Bundle and get started cutting bottles. I was also pleased that the gloves that came with the kit fit my small hands. They are stretchy though and will fit most sizes I would think. I’m also happy with the extra wheels, glass cutter, glass diamond hole saw drill bit, rubber rings, sand paper and bottle brush. The 2 page manual explains the basic operation of the cutter. The bottle cutter is made of steel and is sturdy and clean looking. Even though It has non-skid material on the bottom, I secured it with a large C clamp to my table to make sure it wouldn’t slide while I was cutting a bottle. The wheels and back plate are adjustable to many positions which is a plus. I’ve cut 4 bottles so far. The first bottle I cut was perfect! Not having ever cut a bottle before, I was encouraged. It was a sparkling cider bottle. The next sparkling cider bottle I cut didn’t break perfectly and I think it was because I went over a couple of spots on the score line that I didn’t think scored well. No problem. The third bottle was a wine bottle and it also had a perfect break on the score line. The fourth was another sparking cider bottle and it broke almost perfectly. I noticed a 1 inch crack though. The sparkling cider bottles are a lot thicker than the wine bottles, but I don’t think that really makes a difference because I got 2 perfect scores and breaks from the 2 different bottles. I think I need to not press too hard while scoring and not to go over the score line a second time. The rubber rings are great and direct the boiling water right on the score line. I used an ice cream bucket with water and ice to put the bottle in right after the boiling water. I was a little startled when the bottom of the first bottle fell off into my sink so quickly while pouring the boiling water on a second time. I put a dishcloth in the sink just in case that happened. There were little teeny tiny glass shards on the dishcloth after the bottles broke. That wasn’t the best so I would recommend a rag that could be used just for that purpose or that could be thrown away. I cut a piece of non skid rug backing and put that in the sink. It worked well and could be easily rinsed off. (see photo). Also attached is a photo of 3 of the bottles after sanding the edges. You can see the small crack by the masking tape on the one bottle and the clean breaks on all three. I’m making wind chimes out of these bottles and am excited to see how they turn out. The one with the crack may fracture more so I may not keep that one.March 17, 2019. I have now cut 8 bottles and only the 2 in my comment above didn’t break perfectly. That’s 8 bottles with 6 of them cut perfectly. I would definitely recommend this bottle cutter. It’s easy to use.
